Merge a photo and a signature into one image

FreeNo uploadNo signupWorks offline

Some application forms want your photograph and your signature as a single upload rather than two. Drop both here and they are placed together – the photo above, the signature below, on a white background – and compressed to the limit your form sets. The files never leave your device, which is worth something when one of them is your signature.

How to use Merge Photo & Signature

Merge Photo & Signature – Join a photo and a signature into the one image a form wants. Free, no upload.
  1. Drop both images at once – your photo and your signature.
  2. Check which was treated as which; switch them if the guess is wrong.
  3. Set the size limit your form states, if it has one.
  4. Click Merge and download the single image.

Supported formats

  • Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC
  • Output: JPG

It works out which file is which

You do not have to drop them in a particular order. A signature scanned or photographed from paper is a wide, short strip and a passport photo is portrait or close to square, so comparing their shapes identifies them correctly nearly every time. The result says which file it treated as which, and a single switch undoes it – being wrong quietly would be worse than asking.

Why the signature is scaled to the photo

A signature photographed on a full sheet of paper is far wider than a passport photo. Scaling both to a shared width would leave your face as a stamp at the top of a mostly empty image. Instead the photo keeps its size and the signature is scaled down to match its width, which is what the combined uploads these forms expect actually look like. Crop the signature close to the ink first and the result is better still.

The size limit, and what is not on this page

Where a form states a maximum file size, set it and the image is compressed to the best quality that fits. What this page deliberately does not do is tell you the combined pixel size your form wants, because there is no single answer to source – forms that ask for a merged upload state their own dimensions and they differ. Take that figure from your own notice. The 20, 50 and 100 KB limits offered here are the ones that appear in the notices behind the exam pages on this site.

If your signature has a transparent background

A PNG signature with a transparent background is placed onto the white canvas rather than punching a hole in it, so it comes out as black ink on white. If you have not removed the grey paper yet, the signature cut-out tool does that first and the result merges more cleanly.

Limitations

  • Exactly two images: a photo and a signature.
  • The combined pixel size depends on what you drop in; this page does not claim an official size, because forms that want a merged upload set their own.
  • The guess about which file is which is based on shape, so two images of similar proportions may need the switch.

Privacy

Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.

Frequently asked questions

Which file should I drop first?

Either. The shapes tell them apart – a signature is a wide strip, a photo is portrait or square. The result says which was treated as which, and there is a switch if it guessed wrong.

What size will the combined image be?

The photo keeps its pixel size and the signature is scaled to match its width, plus the gap and border you choose. The exact result is shown when it finishes. Your form decides what it should be – take that figure from your own notice.

Can I put them side by side instead?

Yes. Choose the side-by-side layout, and the signature is scaled to match the photo’s height rather than its width.

How do I get it under 50 KB?

Set the size limit to 50 KB before merging. The image is saved at the best quality that fits. A smaller gap and border leave more room for the picture itself.

Are my photo and signature uploaded?

No. Both are read, combined and saved inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server – which matters rather more than usual when one of the files is your signature.

Is it free?

Yes – free, no signup, no watermark.
