Convert PDF to Word with layout preserved

Each page becomes a Word page of the same size. Text stays editable and keeps its font, size, weight, colour, letter-spacing and exact position; lines, boxes, shading and images are kept in a background layer behind the text. Choose “Editable flow” instead to get ordinary reflowing paragraphs.

How to use PDF to Word

  1. Choose a PDF, or drop it onto the upload area.
  2. Pick “Keep layout” (looks like the PDF) or “Editable flow” (reflowing paragraphs), and optionally a page range.
  3. Select Convert to Word and wait for the progress bar.
  4. Download the .docx and open it in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.

Supported formats

  • Input: PDF (with selectable text)
  • Output: DOCX

What is preserved

Keep layout reproduces page size, text position, font family, size, bold/italic, colour, letter-spacing and links, with lines, boxes, shading and images kept behind the text. Symbol characters such as checkboxes and bullets are converted to their real Unicode or Wingdings glyphs, and interactive form values become normal text.

Choosing a mode

Keep layout is best for résumés, forms, letters and anything that must look identical. Editable flow rebuilds ordinary paragraphs with alignment, indents, bullets and spacing, which is easier to rewrite but may differ visually on complex pages.

Scanned PDFs

A scanned PDF contains pictures of text, not text. Run it through OCR PDF first, then convert the searchable result.

Privacy

Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.

Frequently asked questions

Will my tables and images survive?

In Keep layout mode they look the same, but table borders and images are part of each page’s background picture rather than editable Word tables. The text inside table cells stays editable.

Why does the font look slightly different?

If a font used in the PDF is not installed on your computer, Word cannot use it. The converter substitutes Arial, Times New Roman or Courier New and adjusts letter-spacing so every line still lines up.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Parsing and .docx creation happen in your browser tab.
