Rules from the notice

Besides the size, the notice asks for:

  • JPG, 10–20 KB
  • About 6.0 cm wide × 2.0 cm high
  • SSC takes your photo live in the application – no photo upload

How to make a clean signature image

Sign in black ink on plain white paper, in good daylight, and photograph it from straight above so the page fills most of the picture. The tool turns the grey paper white, trims to the ink and centres it at the required size.

What about the SSC photo?

SSC no longer accepts an uploaded photo: the application takes a live photo with your webcam or phone camera. Use good light, a plain background, the camera at eye level, and no cap, mask or glasses – and do not photograph an existing photo.

Limitations

  • Follows the notice named on this page; a newer notification can change the rules – check yours before applying.
  • Checks size, file size and format, not whether the photo itself (expression, lighting, how recent) meets the rules.

Privacy

Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.

Frequently asked questions

What is the SSC signature size?

A JPG/JPEG file between 10 and 20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide and 2.0 cm high (SSC CHSL 2025 notice). Blurred or very small signatures are rejected.

Do I upload a photo for SSC?

No. The SSC application captures a live photo instead of taking an upload. Only the signature is uploaded.

Will my form be rejected for the photo or signature?

The notice says applications authenticated with Aadhaar are not rejected on photo or signature grounds. Others should follow the rules exactly.

Does 1 KB mean 1000 or 1024 bytes?

Forms differ, so the tool aims for a file that passes either way: under the maximum counted in 1000-byte KB and over the minimum counted in 1024-byte KB.

Are my photo and signature uploaded?

No. They are resized in your browser and never leave your device – important for ID documents.

Is it free?

Yes – free with no signup, no watermark and no limit.
