Official sizes
From JEE (Main) 2027 Information Bulletin p.8–9. Pixel sizes are only listed where the notice sets one.
| Upload | Pixel size | File size |
|---|---|---|
| Photo | not set | 10–200 KB |
| Signature | not set | 10–100 KB |
Rules from the notice
Besides the size, the notice asks for:
- JPG, 10–200 KB (no pixel size is set)
- Colour, white background, 80 % face including ears
- JPG, 10–100 KB (no pixel size is set)
Photo rules
A recent colour photo on a white background, with 80 % of it showing your face including ears, without a mask. You also take a live photo with your webcam during the application.
About 3.5 × 4.5 cm and blue ink
Coaching sites often quote a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo and a 3.5 × 1.5 cm signature in blue or black ink. The 2027 bulletin does not set these – only the file size and format.
Limitations
- Follows the notice named on this page; a newer notification can change the rules – check yours before applying.
- Checks size, file size and format, not whether the photo itself (expression, lighting, how recent) meets the rules.
Privacy
Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.
