Optimize & repairFully working
Optimize a PDF without changing its content
Optimization re-writes the PDF with a compact internal structure and discards objects nothing refers to. The result looks identical and keeps selectable text; it is smaller when the original was saved inefficiently, e.g. by incremental updates.
How to use Optimize PDF
- Select a PDF.
- Run the optimizer.
- Compare the sizes.
- Download if smaller – otherwise your original is kept.
Supported formats
- Input: PDF
- Output: PDF
What it does not do
Embedded images and fonts are not recompressed or subset. For that kind of reduction use Compress PDF, which has image-based levels.
Safe by design
If the rebuilt file is not smaller, the tool tells you and gives back the original unchanged.
Limitations
- No image recompression or font subsetting.
- Bookmarks and document-level extras may be dropped.
Privacy
Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.
Frequently asked questions
Is it the same as compress?
It is the lossless half of compression. Compress PDF also offers lossy levels.
Will bookmarks stay?
The rebuild copies pages, so document-level extras such as bookmarks may be dropped.
