How to use Remove EXIF & GPS

Remove EXIF & GPS – Strip GPS location and camera data before sharing photos. Free, no upload.
  1. Choose or drop your photos.
  2. Review the metadata found – including GPS location.
  3. Click Remove metadata.
  4. Download the clean photos.

Supported formats

  • Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF
  • Output: Same as input (JPG, PNG, WebP), JPG (for HEIC)

What EXIF metadata can reveal

GPS coordinates accurate to a few metres (often your home), the date and time, your phone or camera model and serial number, and sometimes the software used to edit the photo.

Lossless removal

For JPG, PNG and WebP the metadata blocks are cut out of the file and the image data is left untouched, so there is no quality loss. HEIC and other formats are re-encoded as JPG, which drops all metadata.

Limitations

  • HEIC, AVIF and GIF files are re-encoded (as JPG or AVIF) to remove metadata.

Privacy

Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove EXIF data on iPhone, Android or Mac?

Open this page in your browser on any device and choose the photos – it works the same everywhere. On iPhone you can also turn off location for a single share: Share → Options → Location.

Do social networks remove GPS data?

Many large platforms strip it from public uploads, but email attachments, messaging apps that send “original quality”, cloud links and many websites keep it.

Is the colour profile kept?

Yes by default, so colours look the same. You can remove it too.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser using WebAssembly versions of the same codecs desktop apps use. Your photos never leave your device.

Is it free?

Yes – free with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit. You can process many images at once.
