Will converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No – it cannot restore detail already lost to JPG compression, but it stops further loss when you edit and save the image again. PNG files are larger than JPG.

JPG to PNG with a transparent background

Animated images are converted as a single still frame.
Very large images (over 100 megapixels) are refused to protect your device’s memory.
