Compress an image to 10 KB
FreeNo uploadNo signupWorks offline
A form that caps uploads at 10 KB will reject anything larger, usually without saying why. Drop your photo or signature and get the best-looking version that fits - found on your device, with nothing uploaded.
How to use Compress Image to 10KB

- Choose or drop your image.
- Keep the 10 KB target, or type a different limit.
- Click Compress.
- Check the final size and dimensions, then download.
Supported formats
- Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF

What fits in 10 KB
At 10 KB you are in signature territory, not photograph territory. A black-ink signature on white paper at around 300 x 100 px compresses to this comfortably because most of the image is flat white. A face photo at 10 KB will be visibly blocky and most forms that want a photo ask for far more.

These are real application forms whose own notice sets 10 KB as the maximum, read from the document linked below each figure. Specs change with every notification cycle, so check your own notice before you submit.

Getting the best result at this size
If this is a signature, crop tightly to the ink before compressing - the white margin around it is what wastes the budget. Scan or photograph in good light so the ink is solid black rather than grey.
How the target is reached
The image is saved as a JPG at the highest quality that still fits in 10 KB (counted as 10,000 bytes), found by trying successive quality levels. Only if quality alone cannot get there is the image scaled down, in steps, keeping its proportions. The exact final size and dimensions are shown when it finishes.
Limitations
- The result is a JPG, so transparent areas in a PNG become white.
- A heavily cropped or very detailed image may need to be scaled down to fit.
- The tool checks size, dimensions and format - not whether the photo itself meets a form’s rules on pose, lighting or how recent it is.
Privacy
Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.
Frequently asked questions
Will the file be exactly 10 KB?
It will be at or just under 10 KB - the largest, best-quality file that fits.
Will the dimensions change?
Only if they have to. Most images reach the target on quality alone, and the result shows the final width and height so you can check against the form.
Which forms ask for 10 KB?
Protean PAN scan guidelines (Form 93). Each figure here was read from that notice, and notices change - confirm against your own before submitting.
Does the form count 1 KB as 1000 or 1024 bytes?
Forms differ, and most do not say. The result is kept under the limit counted as 1000 bytes, so it also passes a form that counts 1024.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read into your browser and resized on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, which matters when the file is an ID photo or a signed form.
Is it free?
Yes - free, with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit.
