Supported formats

  • Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF
  • Output: JPG

How it reaches the target

The image is saved as a JPG at the highest quality that fits in 200 KB (counted as 200,000 bytes, so it also passes forms that count 1 KB as 1024 bytes), found by trying different quality levels. If even low quality is too big, the image is scaled down step by step until it fits, keeping its proportions.

Tips for the best result

Crop away unneeded background first – fewer pixels means more quality for what remains. For photos of documents, a slightly smaller resolution often looks sharper than a heavily compressed large one.

Limitations

  • Images that are already highly compressed may barely shrink.
  • Animated images are compressed as a single frame.

Privacy

Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.

Frequently asked questions

Will the image be exactly 200 KB?

It will be at or just under 200 KB – the largest, best-quality file that fits.

Does it change the dimensions?

Only if necessary. Most photos reach the target by quality alone; the result shows the final width and height.

What happens to PNG transparency?

The result is a JPG, which has no transparency, so transparent areas become white.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser using WebAssembly versions of the same codecs desktop apps use. Your photos never leave your device.

Is it free?

Yes – free with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit. You can process many images at once.
