Remove the password from an Aadhaar PDF
FreeNo uploadNo signupWorks offline
Open and save your Aadhaar as a normal PDF that does not ask for a password every time. You need the password itself - it is not recovered or guessed here - and the file is unlocked on your device rather than on somebody’s server, which for a document issued by UIDAI is the whole point.
How to use Remove Aadhaar PDF Password

- Choose your Aadhaar PDF.
- Type the password that opens it.
- Confirm that the document is yours or that you are allowed to unlock it.
- Click Remove password and download the unlocked copy.
Supported formats
- Input: PDF
- Output: PDF
What the password on an Aadhaar is
An e-Aadhaar downloaded from UIDAI opens with the first four letters of your name in CAPITALS followed by your year of birth - so RAME1992 for Ramesh born in 1992. The name is as printed on the Aadhaar, and if it is shorter than four letters the password uses what there is plus the year.
Remove it, or just open it?
These are different things, and people search for both in the same words. If you only need to read the document, type the password into any PDF reader. If you need a copy that opens without one - to attach to a form, to print at a shop, or because the system receiving it cannot handle a protected file - you need the password removed, which is what this page does. You need to know the password either way: this removes a password you have, it does not recover one you do not.
Why you should think twice before uploading this one
An Aadhaar is your national identity document, and an unlocked copy is more sensitive than the locked one you started with. The tools ranking above this page for the same search receive your Aadhaar on their servers and hold it under whatever retention policy they publish. This page removes the password in your browser: open the network tab while you use it and you will see nothing leave, because there is no upload endpoint to send it to.
Masked Aadhaar
If you only need to prove your identity rather than show the full number, UIDAI offers a masked e-Aadhaar that hides the first eight digits. Downloading that instead is usually better than unlocking and sharing the full document.
How this works without uploading
The Aadhaar is decrypted in your browser using the password you type, and the decrypted copy is handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is transmitted, nothing is stored, and closing the tab leaves no copy anywhere. That is a meaningful difference for a document that identifies you.
Limitations
- You need the password. This removes protection you can already get past; it does not recover or crack anything.
- Only for documents you own or are authorised to unlock.
- Document properties such as title and author may not carry over.
Privacy
Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove the password from an Aadhaar PDF?
Drop the file here, type the password that opens it, and download the unlocked copy. It is done in your browser - the Aadhaar is not uploaded.
What is the Aadhaar PDF password?
An e-Aadhaar downloaded from UIDAI opens with the first four letters of your name in CAPITALS followed by your year of birth - so RAME1992 for Ramesh born in 1992. The name is as printed on the Aadhaar, and if it is shorter than four letters the password uses what there is plus the year.
How do I open an Aadhaar PDF without a password?
You cannot open it without knowing the password - that is the point of the protection. Once you know it, this page gives you a copy that no longer asks.
I have forgotten the password. Can you recover it?
No. Nothing here guesses or cracks a password. If you cannot work it out from the rule above, get a fresh copy from UIDAI.
Is it safe to remove the password?
The unlocked file is less protected than the one you started with, so keep it somewhere sensible and avoid emailing it. Removing the password here does not expose the Aadhaar to anyone, because it never leaves your device.
Does the unlocked file look any different?
No. The pages, text and images are identical; only the encryption is gone. The title and author fields may not carry across.
Is it free?
Yes - free, no signup, no watermark, no limit.
