Compare two PDFs by text
Choose an original and a revised PDF. The tool extracts the text of each page, aligns lines and highlights what was added or removed – ideal for contracts and manuscripts where wording changes matter.
How to use Compare PDFs
- Choose the original PDF.
- Choose the revised PDF.
- Press Compare.
- Review additions (green) and removals (red); filter to changes only.
Supported formats
- Input: PDF × 2 (with selectable text)
- Output: On-screen diff
What it compares
Text content, line by line, over the whole document (page breaks are ignored so that moving a paragraph across a page boundary is not reported as a rewrite).
What it does not compare
Fonts, colours, images, layout and formatting. Two PDFs that look different but contain the same text will be reported as identical.
Privacy
Files you choose are read into your browser’s memory and processed on your device; they are not uploaded to a server. Temporary download links are released after use, and the offline cache never stores your documents. More about privacy and limits.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Only after OCR on both files.
Why do small reflow differences show up?
Lines are compared as printed. If line breaks moved, nearby lines can appear as changed.
